Discworld, the Hogfather

Just wow!

Noone told me there was a Hogfather movie….

Hogfather

The first 3 minutes can be viewed by clicking the above image.

For those of you who are already Terry Pratchett fans, this post should need no further explanation or verbiage. For those of you who aren’t *yet* fans, may I suggest the you read Thief of Time, Small Gods or Hogfather.

And perhaps on a more touching note, I’ll include an interview with Terry on his thoughts on Alzheimer’s, which can be found here.

The More Loving One

The More Loving One by W. H. Auden is one of my all time favorite poems.

I’m including it here for you, my friends, to enjoy:

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total darkness sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.

Primal Forces

Enjoy my poem, Primal Forces:

I remember kissing you like voodoo
And how we’d both raised our totems
And rattled our necklaces of skulls
And held our fetishes

I remember discovering some lost art
Encased in ice, and we thawed it slowly
Both of us sighing as it melted
And we melted into it

I remember us being the plates that
Drive the mountains inside the earth
Raising mountains, slowly
And deliberately

I remember the tide that swept
Us along, before taking us under the surface
And the both of us gasping to
Fill our lungs

I remember a hurricane that
Snatched us up into its
Arms, our arms touching our faces
As we kissed
